When Natalie’s Year 12 Accounting teacher suggested she apply for an accounting scholarship, Natalie had just one question—what about her girlhood dream of becoming a lawyer? The answer: study both!

Natalie won the inaugural Keith Goodwin FNQ Accounting Scholarship to study a double degree in Accounting and Law at QUT. In her fourth year, Natalie’s childhood dreams really did come true when she discovered tax law.

Natalie completed her studies and landed a plum role at a Big 4 (then Big 6) accounting firm that specialised in Corporate Tax. And it was working in the Corporate niche that she discovered her interests actually lay in helping small and medium businesses.

When her husband, Daniel, suggested Natalie bring her talents to Pluta Accountants in 2001, it just made sense. Coming from a long line of business owners, Natalie felt right at home working with small business owners to help them achieve their goals. And within a year Natalie and Daniel were running Pluta Accountants together.

Ambitious and driven, Natalie has always been motivated to create change for the better within the industry. Being highly organised has allowed her to not only deliver on client work but consult and advise on numerous industry programs, forums and committees. Including the ATO’s Tax Practitioner Forum from 2007 to 2009 and as an external consultant for the Quality Control Program from 2010 to 2015. She sat on the CPA’s Public Practice Committee from 2002 to 2009 where she was Chair from 2006 to 2008. She also sat on the CPA Disciplinary Committee from 2011 to 2023.

Natalie’s talent for talking and deep interest in people meant she was never destined for simple number crunching. At Pluta, she combines strategic, long-term thinking with deep compassion for clients and a talent for explaining complex matters in simple language.

All of which allows her to make clients feel comfortable even as she’s getting straight to the heart of what’s impacting them so she can provide clear advice on their best possible solutions, and deftly guide them to achieve their goals.
